A Message From Our State Senate Candidate

A message from Leslie…

Dear Friends,

Our part of New York State is full of potential. My husband and I chose to make our home here over a decade ago because it is simply the best place we know to raise our family. Our growing local businesses, vineyards, and farms supply top-rate products to homes and restaurants across New York State and the nation. Our region draws in travelers, families on vacation, and new tourism revenue to our towns and small businesses. Despite being continually shortchanged by Albany, our schools continue to produce top-notch graduates and athletes, and we have a talented work force and spectacular natural resources.

I love our strong sense of community and our can-do spirit. This comes through whenever you look at the boundless potential our region offers.  People across Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins, and Yates counties, began talking with me about this race and what it could mean for our community, and one of the things I hear over and over is that we are ready to do the hard work to make our communities the best they can be. But, we don’t have leadership that takes advantage of this. Too many opportunities have faded because Albany ignores us and takes us for granted, following the same tired path traveled for years.  Without fair funding for our schools, investment in our hundreds of local businesses and farms, improvements to our roads and bridges, and protection of our land for generations to come, our community suffers. Joblessness plagues too many of our towns. Families struggle, and teachers strive to teach our children without access to basic supplies, technology, and professional development.

We need a State Senator who will make it her full-time job to fight for our farms, our schools and our families. As a daughter of farmers, as a public school parent, an attorney, a community advocate, wife and mother, I will be the stronger voice our communities need.

Running against the entrenched interests of Albany will not be easy, but together, we will build a strong campaign and win this race. Please join me as I take on the fight to stand up for all of us who are proud to make our homes here.

Let’s get to work!
