ELMIRA, NY – A new candidate for the Chemung County Legislature has just officially announced his bid for public office. Arthur L. Jones, III – a Democrat, from Elmira – will be challenging incumbent John Burin in the 9th District.
Jones is a priest in the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, PA. He also serves as Assistant Program Manager at a local not-for-profit agency providing services to children and families throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes Region. He is an active member of the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce; and currently serves on two local executive boards. Over the years, Jones has been active in a variety of community and civic organizations.
He stated, “My campaign platform will be based on four primary pillars: COVID, cost of living, crime, and community unity initiatives. Although the city of Elmira is a wonderful place in which to live and to work, how local government responds to those core issues directly affects the lives of every resident.”
The Chemung County Democratic Party has endorsed Arthur Jones III.
Jones shared, “I’m very excited about pursuing this opportunity to represent the citizens of the 9th District. I am fully committed to running a race based on integrity rather than ideology.” Jones will avoid all negative campaign activities while focusing on issues, ideas, and interactions with District 9 residents.
